Jim Boynton, SJ Brother

President of UD Jesuit High School

Br. Jim Boynton, SJ was born and raised in St. Ignace. From his four grandparents, one branch of the family goes back eight generations in the Straits of Mackinac, and two others go back five generations. Jim is a member of the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians.

Jim has worked as a tour guide in St. Ignace, Mackinac Island, and Mackinaw City. He has been a Jesuit since 1987, and his ministry has stationed him in India, Cleveland, Detroit, Mexico, and Haiti. For years he taught high school history during the academic year, and then ran the summer ministry at Ste. Anne’s Church for the international workers on Mackinac Island. He is currently president of the University of Detroit Jesuit High School.
